Weekend Workshop: Make a Folding Pocket Knife
Join Matthieu Cheminée for a two-day hands-on workshop where participants will design and make their own folding pocket knife. Matthieu learned this technique from renowned metalsmith Tim McCreight, and will guide participants through the complete process from design to finishing.
During the weekend, you will learn how to design a knife, cut the blade and end spring from a sheet of tool steel, shape and refine the pieces through careful filing, and heat treat the blade for strength and durability.
Participants will also create and assemble the handle, working with bronze, wood, and silver to complete their unique knife.
This workshop is a great opportunity to learn traditional metalworking techniques and leave with a fully functional handmade folding knife.
Joignez-vous à Matthieu Cheminée pour un atelier pratique de deux jours au cours duquel les participant·e·s concevront et fabriqueront leur propre couteau de poche pliant. Matthieu a appris cette technique auprès du célèbre métallier Tim McCreight et vous guidera à travers toutes les étapes du processus, de la conception à la finition.
Durant la fin de semaine, vous apprendrez à concevoir un couteau, à découper la lame et le ressort arrière dans une feuille d’acier à outils, à façonner et affiner les pièces par limage, puis à traiter thermiquement la lame pour lui donner solidité et durabilité.
Les participant·e·s réaliseront également le manche du couteau, en travaillant avec le bronze, le bois et l’argent pour créer une pièce unique.
Cet atelier est une occasion unique d’apprendre des techniques traditionnelles de travail du métal et de repartir avec un couteau pliant entièrement fonctionnel fabriqué de vos propres mains.
